and the winner is…

I’ve been lucky in recent months to have been part of the judging panel for two high profile, national awards - the Children and Young People Awards, and the Great British Care Awards. I say lucky because it’s always a pleasure to spend time with people whose human spirit shines through and drives them forward in their pursuit of achieving something for the betterment of others. Not just for a few days, or a week or so, but consistently and with a sense of passion and determination that doesn’t fade.

As a fan of the 3D’s approach to life - debate, decide, deliver - I was always going to be inspired by this multifarious array of talent, underpinned by that all important and consistent theme – “that” mindset. You know what I am talking about – they are the ones that can command a room, and people listen. Their passion and authenticity come to the fore because they have found what inspires them, and as such their style and tone inspires others to not only play their part in delivering the vision, but to do it because they want to.  They focus on finding ways to deliver the vision through supporting and inspiring those around them to embrace that vision whilst engendering an environment of positive follows negative.

Now that’s the stuff leaders are made of. Not everyone can do it, but you will know the ones who can. They tend to be the ones that you are pleased to see enter the room, as opposed to being pleased when they leave it.
